What happens to your Hong Kong work visa when you have been made redundant but you still have time left on your current limit of stay?
QUESTION
Hi there,
I am residing here on a Hong Kong work visa, employed as a professional in the financial services industry.
My role has been made redundant and hence my employer has terminated my contract.
I have been in Hong Kong for 4 years and I plan to stay longer.
My visa expires in November 2016, however, my last day of employment will be February 18th, 2016.
Can I stay in the city till my visa expires to find a new job?
I assume my employer will notify the immigration on my employment status.
Would that have any affect on my visa to stay and find a new job?
 Please advise.
