What Can You Do to Get a Longer Period of Stay if the Hong Kong Visitor Visa Granted at CLK Airport Doesn’t Meet Your Needs?

Posted by / in Family Visas, Visitor Visas, Your Question Answered / 3 responses

Hong Kong visitor visa? Whilst Hong Kong affords very generous visitor-visa-upon arrival arrangements to almost 200 foreign nationalities, sometimes the limit of stay you receive at the airport or boundaries is not enough – so what can you do to get a longer period of stay?

The trick is to apply for an extended visa before arrival.

QUESTION

Hello,

My sister is living in Japan, but holds a Russian passport.

She is coming to Hong Kong  to visit me and she wants to stay with me for 7 weeks.

But Russian passport holders may stay in Hong Kong for 2 weeks each time only.

Is it possible to extend her visa till 7 weeks?  If she will show her return ticket and also explain the reason why she wants to stay here for 7 weeks (the reason is that 2 weeks for us to be together is not enough as we want to spend more time together).

Also, she’s coming with her 2 years old daughter who is holding a Japanese passport  (as I know that Japanese passport holders may stay in Hong Kong  for 90 days) so her daughter no need to extend anything.

Is it possible to extend my sister’s visa in one time ?

Thanks

Can I Get a Hong Kong Dependant Visa for My Same Sex Partner Now That We Are Legally Married?

Posted by / in Family Visas, Visitor Visas, Your Question Answered / No responses

Hong Kong dependant visa for my same sex partner?

SMALL-keep-calm-and-ask-the-visa-geeza
How is a legal marriage between same sex partners considered by the Hong Kong Immigration Department?

QUESTION

I am a Hong Kong permanent resident but not currently living in the HKSAR.

I am considering re-locating to Hong Kong and would like to bring my husband with me.

We are a same-sex married couple.  We have a Civil-Partnership from Manchester, UK, granted in October 2012 and were also married in New York, USA in June of  2013.

Would it be possible for me to sponsor my husband as my dependent in Hong Kong?

My husband is a British citizen.  Would it be possible to gain entitlement for my husband to work?

Thank you in advance for your help.
