On July 10, 2014 I was invited by the good folks at General Assembly to give an overview talk on the opportunities for their foreign national Alumni seeking to remain in Hong Kong after graduating from their excellent programmes.
Entrepreneur to employee and then back to being an entrepreneur again – what will the Hong Kong Immigration Department make of this scenario…?
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Hello,
I was on an investment visa for a year when I started my own business and then took on a full time role with another company. I was then transferred to an employment visa.
I am now considering leaving this role and going back to actively work in my business.
Can I apply for an investment visa for a second time or does it simply get transferred to my own company as an employment visa?
Would it be a problem to leave Hong Kong for 3 months or longer for any reason other than work without it negatively impacting my eligibility for the right of abode?

If you no longer work for your sponsoring employer but your Hong Kong employment visa has not yet expired what impact will this have on your Right of Abode application?
